Shankar Singh Raghuwanshi was one half of the legendary Bollywood composer duo Shankar-Jaikishan, who were among the most influential and successful music directors in Indian cinema.
Musical Career
Formation of Shankar-Jaikishan Duo
Shankar met Jaikishan Dayabhai Panchal in Mumbai while working as an assistant under music director Ram Ganguly. The duo got their big break when Raj Kapoor offered them their first film, Barsaat (1949). This marked the beginning of a golden era in Bollywood music.
