Charlize Theron was born in Benoni, South Africa, to Gerda and Charles Theron. She was raised on a farm and initially pursued ballet, attending the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. However, after a knee injury ended her ballet dreams, she shifted her focus to modeling and acting.
