Ramanaidu “Rana” Daggubati (born December 14, 1984) is an Indian actor, producer, and visual effects coordinator who primarily works in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. He comes from a prominent film family; his father, Daggubati Suresh Babu, is a film producer, and his paternal grandfather, D. Ramanaidu, was a legendary film producer. Actor Venkatesh Daggubati is his paternal uncle, and actor Naga Chaitanya is his cousin.
Early Life and Background
- Rana Daggubati was born in Madras (now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, India.
- He did his schooling in Chennai at Chettinad Vidyashram and later shifted to Hyderabad, where he studied at Nalanda Vidya Bhavan High School and The Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. He was classmates with actors Ram Charan and Sharwanand.
- He holds a degree in Industrial Photography from St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad.
Career
- Before venturing into acting, Rana was involved in visual effects and film production. He even received the State Nandi Award for Best Special Effects for the film Sainikudu (2006).
- He made his acting debut in 2010 with the Telugu film Leader, directed by Sekhar Kammula.
- He gained widespread recognition for his role as Bhallaladeva in S.S. Rajamouli’s epic historical fiction film Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and its sequel Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017).
