Nicolas Cage was born into the famous Coppola family—his uncle is legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. Wanting to make a name for himself without family influence, he changed his last name to Cage, inspired by the Marvel superhero Luke Cage.
He studied at Beverly Hills High School but left early to pursue acting, training at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television.
