Anushka Sharma was born in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, and raised in Bangalore, Karnataka. Her father, Colonel (Retd.) Ajay Kumar Sharma, is an army officer, and her mother, Ashima Sharma, is a homemaker. Anushka’s brother, Karnesh Sharma, has been an integral part of her professional life as a co-producer in her production company, Clean Slate Filmz.
She completed her schooling at Army School in Bangalore and went on to pursue a degree in Arts from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore. During her early years, she was passionate about modeling and fashion, which eventually led her to the world of Bollywood.
Career Beginnings and Bollywood Debut:
Anushka Sharma’s journey into the entertainment industry began with modeling. She went on to do more modeling gigs and appeared in ads for brands like Silk & Shine.
Her Bollywood debut came in 2008 with Aditya Chopra’s romantic drama film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. In this film, Anushka starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the role of Taani, a young bride who struggles with her emotions after her husband takes on a new persona to win her heart. The film was a commercial success, and Anushka received critical acclaim for her natural acting and strong screen presence. This debut earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress.
