Shobana Chandrakumar Pillai, popularly known as Shobana, was born on March 21, 1970, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. She is an acclaimed actress, classical dancer (Bharatanatyam exponent), and Padma Shri awardee.
Shobana comes from a renowned artistic family—she is the niece of legendary actresses Lalitha, Padmini, and Ragini, known as the Travancore Sisters.
She made her film debut at the age of 13 and went on to become one of the most versatile and celebrated actresses in Indian cinema, known for her grace, expressive acting, and dancing skills.
