Known for his vibrant compositions and versatile talent, Achu has made significant contributions to Malayalam, Telugu, and Tamil cinema. His journey from a musically illustrious lineage to carving a niche for himself in the entertainment industry is both inspiring and remarkable.

Early Life and Musical Heritage

Achu Rajamani was born into a family deeply rooted in music. He is the grandson of B. A. Chidambaranath, a pioneer in Malayalam music, and the son of Rajamani, a celebrated music director revered as the “king of background scores” in South Indian cinema. Rajamani’s work spanned over 1,000 films across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages. Growing up surrounded by music, Achu was naturally inclined toward the art, even though his initial aspirations leaned towards aviation—he once dreamed of becoming a pilot.

Musical Training and Early Career

Achu’s foray into the music industry began under the mentorship of the legendary composer M. M. Keeravani. This experience helped him refine his skills and gain insights into the nuances of film composition. He debuted as a music director with the Telugu film “Nenu Meeku Telusa?” in 2008, which featured a mix of fresh and experimental sounds. The film’s soundtrack, which included remixes of Ilaiyaraaja’s classics, earned Achu critical acclaim and paved the way for his subsequent projects.

  • “Urumeen” (2015): A Tamil movie for which his background score was widely appreciated for complementing the film’s intense narrative.

Apart from composing, Achu is also an accomplished playback singer. His notable performances include songs like “Take It Easy” from the Malayalam film “Happy Husbands” (2010).
